THE CONTEST: We received submissions of original songs from 50 rock bands made up of students in grades 8-12. We've narrowed the list down to our top ten. On November 23rd, we'll announce our top three, who will all perform live at our CBC studios on Friday, November 27th in front of our judges, and a live studio audience.

THE PRIZES: All three finalists will get three hours of rehearsal time at Vancouver Rockspace Rehearsal Studio, gift certificates for Long & McQuade, and will perform live on air on Friday, November 27 at our CBC studios on Hamilton Street in Vancouver.

Industry judges will give the bands feedback on their sound and performance, and help chose the final winner.

Our final winner will get a day-long recording session with our CBC music producer, Jon Siddall, in our CBC music studios.

They'll end the day with a full radio-ready copy of their single. That song will then be featured on Radio 3 by host Lisa Christiansen.

The winning band will also go to the Gulf Islands Film and Television School, where they'll create their very own music video.

And, the City of Richmond has invited our winner to perform live in the O Zone, the official celebration site, during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
