"Sorry, I Slept In" released!

Posted by JordanFaye on Feb 07, 2012

Well, hello again! It's been a while...

Since my last post, a lot has happened. Namely, my debut album "Sorry, I Slept In" was released on December 22nd, 2011. It features thirteen (13) original songs and runs at approximately 47 minutes.

The album was recorded, mixed & engineered by Heather Kirby (of Ohbijou) and also features contributions from members of Toronto's indie-pop collective Del Bel, Montreal-based Juno award-winning violist Pemi Paull, and a plethora of other Toronto-based musicians, including my band The Grey Owls.

I've chosen to employ a variety of different instruments to add another dimension to the recordings; oud, banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, charango, viola, flugelhorn, penny whistle and prepared guitar to name some.

The record is available at a few independent music retailers in T.O. and, of course, to purchase at my shows. You can also download/stream the album in its entirety at http://jordanfaye.bandcamp.com.

Be sure to check my calendar for updates. We're booking more shows all the while. And there should be some additions to the "video" section on the page too. Thanks for listening, folks! Keep indie music alive by supporting your favourite independent artists by buying their music or seeing them perform live!

Hey, cyberfolks! My name is Jordan Faye.

My maniacal musical misadventures began back in early 2005 when I co-founded the Toronto-based blues/rock outfit Frayed. Good ol' rock & roll was the name of the game and we hit just about every establishment in the Greater Toronto Area and the outer limits of Ontario, from the dingiest clubs to the more distinguished venues - a highlight being the 2006 Mariposa Folk Festival, where we brought unreached decibel levels to the folk festival format.

Once the group disbanded in late-2007 and after participating in sundry musical endeavours, I've been pursuing a solo career in more of an acoustic vein. I currently perform with a trio dubbed The Grey Owls, featuring myself on 12 & 6-string acoustic guitar, mandolin and vocals, Brian Scarth on guitar and vocals, and Dave Haffey on lead guitar and banjo. I'm currently putting the finishing touches on my first official CD release entitled Sorry, I Slept In, to be released at Summer's end. I hope you enjoy my music, as cliche as it is, I really enjoyed making it and will continue to do so. Looking forward to seeing you in your hometown!

C'mon, CBC, show me what you can do!
