Back from a recent tour of Eastern Canada, this ambitious foursome is poised to do it all again in support of their debut LP release, The Borrowed (Recorded at Toronto’s Phase One Studios and Produced by Bob Gallo).“It was wonderful working with Bob; he’s got stories and experiences that go back to the 1950’s…it was an amazing ten days in the studio,” says guitarist Mykle. “We laid down the tracks as quick as we could, and there was no time for tension within the band or pompousness with anyone involved. It was a great first studio experience.”
Though the band – in its current configuration – has only been together since January 2010, they sound much more focused, creative and ambitious than your average gang of indie rockers. They’ve even made their own charming and impressive claymation video for the track “Going Home” which is available for viewing on their website.
Having been brought together by accidentally enduring a toxic chemical spill while at work in 2004, vocalist Chris P and guitarist Mykle spent the subsequent years crafting the anthemic, pop-literate sound that would come to be known as ‘Epic Indie.’ “While bartending there was this giant leak behind the bar, some extreme form of bleach. We got the hell out of there and decided to go jam. It wasn't until going home that night that we realized we lived right down the street from each other. It all seems like the perfect script for indie rock super stardom,” laughs Mykle.

“We have some unlikely but terrific chemistry; Chris comes from a folky/roots rock background, and I loved metal and hard rock growing up. You vs Me mixes the bravado of hard rock and the sensibilities of folk rock. It’s a lot of fun to for us to play…and it’s indie done on a larger scale. Both our drummer Curly and bass player Roddo come from a pop/punk background that brings a lot of energy and tends to raise the tempo a bit. Most of our songs come from jam sessions, and we all contribute ideas equally which is the most natural way to do it.”
Their current catalogue consists of over thirty songs, and the band is anxious to get back on the road and show people what ‘Epic Indie’ is all about. With their substantial talent and unmatched enthusiasm, You vs Me are destined to make their unique brand of indie rock resonate within hearts and minds across the country. Watch out for upcoming shows in Toronto, Moncton and Halifax!
“These upstarts wield guitar-driven energy with a youthful, freewheeling spirit ready to make their mark. Hooks/harmonies meeting soaring driving indie rock is proof that the formula continues to work as well as getting you movin’.” -- Lonely Vagabond
