Yaya Diallo

Montreal, QC

Yaya Diallo, a native of Mali, West Africa and author of "The Healing Drum" was first published in 1980 with his classic instrumental album "Nangape" recorded in Canada on Onzou Records. Yaya Diallo, with an international reputation as a musician, healer, composer, dancer, teacher, lecturer, storyteller, author and guide to Mali, West Africa is the founder of "Farafina Donia" - A Survival School for Traditional African Culture in Mali. Yaya Diallo's classic 1980 debut album "Nangape,” an instrumental album of African drumming, balafon and flute music, brought recognition to his profound knowledge of traditional African healing arts. Yaya's 1995 "traditional village music" album "Dounoukan" is now available through Onzou Records. In sharp contrast to his earlier albums the CD "Live at Club Soda" with his band "Kanza" moves with saxophone, electric violin, bass and lead guitars, drumset and voice as well as traditional African drums. "Live at Club Soda" bridges traditional West African music with a sound reminiscent of 1950's Rock and Roll and Blues. Distribution: CD Baby, http://www.cdbaby.com/all/onzourecords
