Write2thehead began back in 2004 as a side project for DannyWoods & BillieB.Long time friends Billie recognized that Danny who was recovering from a major surgery needed to motivate himself to get his life back on track.He learned this song on acoustic guitar called "I Don't Beleive" which was a cover of an unreleased Greenwheel song and an original song called "This one's 4 U" which BillieB. had written.The response to playing these tunes in the local karaoke bars was so positive they decided to assemble a band and see what came of it.First came the drummer Amanda Underhill.She was the daughter of a friend of Dannys who was in the high school band so they invited her to try out and right away they could see her potential.Finding a rhythm guitarist and a bassist wasn't that easy.Sean-0 joined the band in late summer of 2005 and Craig Covey became our bassist in May of 2007.
The band began to progress and gel together in late 2006 and we started to do local gigs in our area.We got a great break and managed to find some big city stage time in London Ontario at Norma Jeans and in Toronto at "The Big Bop/Kathedral/Reverb/Holy Joes" as part of the 2007 Emergenza festival in which we have progessed to the Ontario Semi Finals coming up May4th/2007 at "The Reverb" Amanda left the band in April of 2007 and Trevor Oakes Billie.B's older brother came on board in June 0f 2007.
Write2theHead is a 5 piece band that has strayed from the norm a bit.We deliver an infectious hard driving dose of reality rock packing catchy melodies with real life lyrics hence the reference to reality rock.Our writing style is such that it makes people identify with our music because somewhere in their lives they have experienced what our songs are all about.We also have four different generations of musicians in our group with the thought being it would make our songs more appealing to a broader audience if each generation had someone in the band to identify with.Our sound has a cross of melodic soulful sounds and some hard driving in your face rock n roll.Most think we are crazy for not sticking to a specific genre and my response is good music is good music and it shouldn't have to be labelled.Music has the responsibility of reaching down into your soul and stirring up the emotions that define you as a person.If you don't feel something after listening to our work then I haven't done my job as a songwriter.
What does Write2theHead mean?
Rock n roll will always be about sex and drugs just comes with the territory so we wanted a name for marketing purposes that could have a reference to both but it really isn't about that for us.We wanted a name that would make people think!!!We are an anti establishment band who is trying to bring some public awareness to a few social problems because greed seems to dictate the course everyone takes and we are tired of seeing a profit margin being more important then the human condition.If you would like to check out our sites we are on myspace.com/write2thehead with each band member having a fan access personal page just follow the links in top friends to view these.Thanks for taking the time to check us out...DannyWoods-Write2theHead
