The Powergoats were formed in 2007 by Jamie Douglas and David Hart who had worked together on and off since 1994. David Hart is a four-time Canadian Water Polo Olympian, and Jamie Douglas (Gemini-nominated television writer) entertained the Canadian Forces in the Persian Gulf in 2003.
The Powergoats have been spotlighted on CBC Radio and 101.9 DAWG FM and performed at the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest in 2010. Having already completed two self-recorded albums with store placement since October 2008 (Ottawa Bluesfest Collective), they are currently in pre-production on their third CD for a Summer 2011 release.
With their strong blues influences intact, they've now added hypnotic, energetically soothing funk to the lineup with Francis O'keefe, Dave Daley and Scott Cranham (all formerly members of Junkie and the Spider). Reflecting vibes from bands like The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers and Santana, The Powergoats deliver up-beat sounds with unapologetic swagger. It's always been their mission to create mood-inducing music for peoples' good times, be it sweating at a show or on their car stereo.
