The Novaks are
Mick Davis (vocals, guitar), Mark Neary (vocals, bass) and Elliot
Dicks (drums). Based in St. John’s,
Newfoundland, the band formed in
2002.
The Novaks recently took home
the 2010 ECMA for the Rock Recording of the Year for their latest
release Things Fall Apart. Since the album’s release in
2009, the band has performed at NXNE, toured with label-mate Matt Mays, opened
for KISS in Halifax
and completed a cross-Canada tour with Arkells. The single “There Goes The
Night” was featured by Alan Cross on his The Ongoing History of New Music program and the video was in regular rotation on
MuchMore.
George Stroumboulopoulos
of CBC TV’s “The Hour” referred to the band’s November performance at Lee’s
Palace as “unbelievable” on both his television and radio programs. The
Globe and Mail said, "Does this hard-riffing band rock? What would Tom
Petty in leather pants sound like? Wonder no more."
