"For the better part of a decade or more, Vancouver's the Burnettes have done their best to not be noticed while making some of the most informed and poetic misty indie rock music..." Beatroute Magazine Jan 2011
The Burnettes are Cora and Chris Burnette. A Buckingham/Nicks for the modern age, the Vancouver based duo is a combination of Cora's penchant for roots and standards, and Chris's love of old school punk-rock. The result is some wacky, fun-lovin' toe tapping kitchen-party-pop peppered with harmonies, easy melodies, and more than a few shoe-gazing numbers in between. The Burnettes have been making music together since 2000. Three records and a fourth 'in the can', scheduled for release summer 2010. A few bands people say The Burnettes sound like (in no particular order): Ween, Pavement, Bongwater, Pink Floyd, Yo La Tengo, Spent, Dead Milkmen, Gillian Welch, The Kostars, Fleetwood Mac, and Elvis movie music.
