The Woodchopper's Association

The WoodChopper's Association has over 200 members who hail from across Canada, Israel, Russia, Thailand and the USA. The WCA has performed/collaborated with: The Sun Ra Arkestra, John Boyle (Nihilist Spasm Band); Nick Didkovsky (Dr. Nerve, Fred Frith); sound poet Paul Dutton (CCMC); dancer Andrea Nann (Danny Grossman’s Dance Co.); poet Ken Babstock; film maker Steve Reinke ("100 Videos"); and musician Gord Downie. Performances:The DuMaurier Downtown Toronto Jazz Festival, The Guelph Jazz festival and hosted their own critically acclaimed "Do What?!? Music and Arts Festival [s]." Broadcasts:"Gord Downie and Company" (webcast), CBC radio one "Bandwidth", and Ciut-fm radio "Full Circle" (radio/internet).Silent film accompaniment:"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "The Thief of Baghdad". Theatre plays: "Squirrel Boy" and "99". The WCA has taught the art of musical improvisation at festivals, museums and secondary schools in Canada and the USA.
