The Rude Mechanicals

Toronto, ON

The Rude Mechanicals formed in 1998 while attending the University of Prince Edward Island. One year later they released their debut album, The Prologue is Addressed, helping them to gain access to the greater music industry in the form of a mainstage showcase at the 2000 East Coast Music Awards in Sydney, Cape Breton. A second album, Neutrinos, was released in 2000 and like its predecessor had minimal national distribution but much regional attention. In 2001, seeking both a personal and professional change of scenery, the band decided a relocation was in order. They were soon heading west with one eye on the 401 and the other on the rearview mirror, perhaps looking back and longing for home, but likely just checkin' for squirrels.
