The Basement Sweets

Vancouver, BC

Forged out of a chance reunion one night between two old friends, in a room full of amplified instruments, Daphne Locke and Jesse Cullen quickly realized they were on to something. From the start they wanted to create music that's different while still focusing on melody and hooks too fun for mainstream radio. Now, with Kevin Scofield on drums, The Basement Sweets unique musical style encompasses well crafted pop songs, jagged post-punk rhythms, atmospheric washes of sound, and 60's inspired garage stompers, all based on a blatant disregard for formal technique. 2003 saw the release of their first CD entitled the "For Rent EP". The Basement Sweets have since moved above ground and in 2004 released their anticipated second CD "Falls Apart" which is recieving airplay on Cross-Canada campus radio as well as American stations. The band has been playing furiously around Vancouver and are currently writing new material for a forthcoming album. Stay tuned as The Basement Sweets explore new adventures in sound!
