The original members of the Groove came together in early years at SFU ('97 to '99). Steadily, we began to penetrate the local music scene: distinguished fundraisers, pub nights, res parties, jam parties and various venues of Vancouver (El Cocal, DaMoes, Jazz Cellar)... all the while searching for that moment in which a spontaneous jam becomes something more... the Groove.
Later, with the inclusion of Colin Pau in the spring of '99, the Absinthe Groove was officially formed. Efforts focussed on songwriting, leading to our first live recording session engineered by Graham Hall of LarG Productions in the fall of '99.
After another extensive season of live performing, a second recording session, engineered by D. Watts (with the help of LarG) in the summer of '00, captured the rest of our now polished original material.
The best of those recording sessions is now available on our 14-track independent release self-entitled "The Absinthe Groove."
