Ryan Hillier grew up on an island.
His musical history began as a child - his mother's voice singing gospel emanating from the kitchen in the mornings, he would rise, half-awake but still dreaming, pulled by the sweet sounds of song. Her father played the fiddle in his younger days - she played the guitar and sang in church, and still does to this day.
He was always a fan of music but had no inclination to songwriting until buying a guitar himself and messing about with two strings, then four, then six (it took him a few days to learn how to put strings on without breaking them).
Now, a few years later, he spends his time jotting down his thoughts, strumming a few chords, and putting the words to the melody.
