Recalcitron is a project, though one without a goal or an end. Largely, its a "No Rules" environment where I experiment with song structure, instrumentation, vocal technique and whatever else I feel like doing.
It tends to be spontaneously recorded, intensely personal, and probably a little scary.
For instance, none of the lyrics are premeditated. This is probably NOT for the better, but that's how it goes.
I play every single instrument on all of these tracks, except for the bass guitar on WeAreSo was played by mr. Rob Helsten, and the electric violin at the beginning of From The Back Of A Mercedes Benz was played by mr. Vijay Rudraraju.
Most of it involves Sequencers and synths.
My friend, who I've known forever and who is awesome, Cameron Tomsett, has donated me an album cover! everyone go visit www.tomsett.com and have your daily dose of beauty. He is also responsible for the After The Weather albums.
Most of this, was recorded between June and December of last year, with some mild changes happening just before it went up here.
I have no skill whatsoever in mixing or mastering, so I apologize and warn you- you will have to keep your hands on the volume knob as you navigate away from this page because after you will have to turn the rest of CBC Radio3 down quite a bit.
