Paul Clifford Rootballs

Collingwood, ON

Paul hails from Gabriola Island BC, and onto the main stages with Canadian folk band; The Be Good Tanyas[ their recording and touring drummer for some years]. Inspired by The Band, the multi-instrumentalist took all his musical belongings, top recording gear, and his years of 4tracking, to a farm house near Moose Jaw, and recorded Rootballs. The result is a quirky-rootsy- songstory album featuring an 88year old fiddler, a CN train, washboards, tin cans, hoe blades, banjos and shortwave unknowns, . A pro drummer by trade, paul also plays most of the instruments, and produced/engineered it. It was then mixed in Vancouver by the great John Ellis at divine enterpises. This is very much a ''where in the hell did you find this guy?! '' record, giving voices to animals and obscure parts of the human spirit. Heard on both BBC and CBC. Paul now divides his time living and playing in the UK and Canada. Other projects include Laughing Gravy and guitar innovator Mark Hewins in [UK]. Visit his website for more! ''With touches of Tom Waits, Frank Zappa, Robbie Robertson Paul delivers a great set and warrents serious investment by an artisically minded entrepenour'' !! Musician magazine UK ''your music is the most child-like thing i have heard-it makes me want to be a kid again, and see the really obvious everyday things as grand as your music depicts them' Bob [Fiercely anonymous famous Canadian producer] www.paulclifford.moonfruit.com
