Quebec City's Jeanphilip delivers a unique style of North American rock
(Jane’s Addiction, STP) distilled with European influences (Saez, Noir Désir,
Radiohead), and slips into a little 80’s atmosphere (The Cure, Joy Division)
for good measure. Thanks to the
simple yet melodic bass lines, heavy guitars, and flirtation with folk and
electronic sounds, this quartet from "La Vieille Capitale de Québec"
helps to keep rock relevant. The lyrics depict a modern reality while being
spontaneous, introspective, sensitive and engaging. Nevertheless,
they remain simple and catchy.
Most importantly, the universe of Jeanphilip revolves around
the concept of autonomy. The band intends to continue its journey, while
shrugging off the mainstream industry. They represent a new benchmark on how to manage and
conduct business freely, and independently.
