Sez Owen: "I woke up exactly one year ago and decided to emulate Craig Dunsmuir's Guitarkestra with my violin. Unfortunately, I'm terrifically in love and have a terrible sweet tooth for The Carpenters and Stephin Merritt's music. So instead of creativity, you get pop pastiche. Although Final Fantasy originally started as a basement project to exist in the shadows of Les Mouches and (still embryonic) other bands King Tut and Tenderizer, various connecting forces and increased demand made it impossible for me to play a show in Toronto without attracting a pretty fair crowd. So I decided to continue with Final Fantasy, at least for a while, despite the frailty of my voice, my limited experience with pop songs and the similarity of my appearance to superior artists such as Andrew Bird. I hope my music provides you with some small pleasures. Thank you."
