As a young boy, hearing one of his first favourite bands, KISS, Dave Shannon just had to learn to play guitar.

The younger kids in the neighbourhood envied his guitaring ability and looked up to him. Many were influenced to listen to new and different music by Dave; while some kids were listening to Raffi, others had already moved onto AC/DC, KISS, Cheap Trick, and the like.  Everyone remembers the day that Dave took the stage in front of the whole elementary school to play guitar, it was the talk of the playground whether or not he was actually playing or if it was just a recording.

Dave delved into his first lesson at the age of 10. By his mid teens, many hard rock/metal bands were influencing him.  From there, he formed and joined high school garage-type bands.  Exiting his teens, Dave was playing most of the rock clubs around town. "An eye opener," he says.

Around that time he had his first recording studio experiences, and shortly after joined a band called Nitevigil (later renamed Class Action). With this band Dave got to experience filming a music video for their song Little By Little, "What a blast!".

Later, he joined Highway Freak Ticket; they recorded two albums together and did a 'gazillion' club shows around town (Vancouver). They received lots of radio play for their song All I Have and the video played on Much Music’s Indy Spotlight a number of times, as well as a local TV show called Dayti …
