Chapter Thrive & Ryan Stinson

Originating from two distinct parts of rural Saskatchewan, the two halves of the 20something duo, Chapter Thrive and Ryan Stinson met up once long ago at a blurry venue in Saskatoon one summer.  After some time in the spring of 2009 spent discussing relationships, debauchery and money problems, the two decided that chronicling these issues into some sort of album would be a good idea. Thus the concept of 20something was born.

Working fervently over the course of 2009, Chapter and Ryan spent most Saturdays recovering from the night before, and eating breakfast.  During these times, heavy discussions were had determining the meaning of their existences at that particular time and t some point, lyrics were written and records were crafted into beats, eventually coming together in the project of the 20something album.  Spanning topics from one night encounters to sexting to self-loathing, the album disassembles what it takes to live in this decade and then scatters the pieces.  By the end of the album, the idea of dinner parties doesn't sound so frightening and growing up seems like it might be the proper course of action.

Sonically, the pair looks to build sequoias upon their roots.  Ryan brings a fervent wisdom to beat crafting, using drums, samples and played instruments to develop a sound that is specifically his own.  The attention to detail is near immaculate, and you can hear it in the chops and keys he draws across the sound board.  Thrive develop …
