Curiosity Shop

london, ON

Curiosity Shop consisted of: Thomas Barnes (vocals, guitar) Matt Teeter (bass, cello, vocals) Jae Ward (piano, organ, vocals) Dave Cavanagh (drums, vocals) London, Ontario's Curiosity Shop consists of schoolmates who assembled as a trio in 1996 (Barnes, Teeter, and Cavanagh) to revive the sweet pop of the '60's where melody was primary to the creation of good songwriting. They made several showcase appearances on Rogers Television’s ‘Soundwaves' and 'Curtain Call' plus featured spotlight on 'Video Under Ground'. They were also the first place recipients in R.O.R. Productions Battle Of The Bands in London during 1996 and filled out the summer months opening for major label act Hayden on his London tour stops. In May 1997, the trio was rounded out with the addition of keyboardist Ward and the quartet set about recording their debut CD, 'Above The Glass' (1998), at Kinck Studios in Scarborough, Ontario. In 1998 they toured across country to launch the debut album as well as a cover version of the Klaatu song "A Routine Day”, the lead in track on a tribute disc through Bullseye Records. The band has secluded themselves in a homegrown studio and have been working away on what they hope will be a mind blowing follow up to their earlier work.
