Her guitar playing is "creative, tasteful, haunting," and her voice "unpretentious and character-
laden... she creates entrancing songs loaded with memorable hooks, melodies, and choruses." (Calgary Folk Festival program guide 1999)
Chantal was the guitarist and co-songwriter for Same Difference. From there, she, Diane Kooch, and Lori Kennedy went on to form the mighty, mighty all-girl machine called maud. They put out a great self-titled CD before imploding. Chantal's solo CD, Today's Special, encompasses all her favorite types of music; story songs, satires, talking pigs, and sleepy lullabies. CBC, CKUA, campus stations all over North America have enjoyed playing Today's Special. She plays with Kris Demeanor and Anne Loree, both fantastic songwriters, and also writes for film and video (The Road Project, Screaming Fish, The Girl Who Married a Ghost, Gens de Foques, Do Wok a Do, and more).
