Bryce Clifford

Toronto, ON

Austin TX based rock outfit, fronted by Canadian singer-songwriter Bryce Clifford.  Reviewers unanimously cite influences of the Band, Van Morrison & Marah, while 2009's live-recording "Hail Tapes" further captures the bands' raucous post-punk energy, akin to The Replacements and Elvis Costello.

BRYCE CLIFFORD releases a live EP in 09, and plans another full-length release of new material before the year is through.  His Austin-based band continues touring both in Texas and northward into Canada.

The new EP "HAIL TAPES" was captured live with the newly formed band, in one-take.  Ditching digital, the set was recorded to 2-inch tape, a method used by the groups favorite artists of the past.  Produced by James Stevens of Austins acclaimed 'Moonlight Towers', the collection of songs includes guest appearances by members of 'Sleepercar' and 'Lil Cap'n Travis'.

Bryce Clifford, originally from Toronto, Canada, moved to Austin in 2006, where he began writing the songs for "Signal the Sun".  Live performances and under-the- radar recording sessions attracted top players like Kim Deschamps (pedal-steel guitar / Charlie Robinson / Cowboy Junkies / Blue Rodeo),  Jon Blondel (horn arrangements / Willie Nelson, Sublime) and Tony Scalzo (Fastball) to collaborate, and jump in on live shows.

With little fanfare, "SIGNAL THE SUN" garnered high praise from reviewers in Europe, the U.S. and Canada, including Americana UK (*9 of 10 stars), Roots Time Belgium, The Toronto Star, Alt-Country Netherlands, among others.

In 2007, Bryce was invited to compose an original musical score for "Hitting Their Mark", a BRAVO-TV documentary about the state of live theatre, which continues to air frequently across Canada.

In Canada, Bryce began performing with his brother in 'PEDESTRIAN STATUS' (Ped-stat to college fans) in the late-90's.  They explored a wide range of musical styles and appeared on Toronto's famed Queen Street scene with a unique and emotionally-reved sound. Their 'punk-art meets roots-rock' sound and high energy live act boasted sophisticated hooks and melodic layers.  Releasing two independent CD's, "HOME BREW" & "DRIFTER" (which made top ten at College Radio in Southwestern Ontario), the band performed frequently at The El Mocambo, The Horseshoe and Lee's Palace.
