Antigonish, NS

Pounding out hard four-to-the-floor house and electro grooves since the beginning of 2007, Antigonish's own Broadcaster has been making waves on the East Coast jam band scene. The band began when these four maritime boys got together to play a benefit concert at St. Francis Xavier University, where they attend school. Broadcaster has been turning some heads with their distinctive style of playing live house, funk and electro – dashed with some rock.
One might mistake them as a DJ without seeing the band, playing long instrumental beats with a healthy dose of improve, garunteed to get your ass on the dance floor. The band draws influence everywhere from Daft Punk, to Pink Floyd, to the New Deal.
The band consists of James Arsenault on bass, effects, and vocals; Chris Pottie on guitar and vocals; Brent Collins on guitar and effects; and Kevin MacIsaac on drums and percussion. They have shared the stage with such acts as Toronto's Irie Band, Red Barn, and the Jimmy Swift Band. Look out for these cats in the future.
