Boo Hoo

Montreal, QC

Boo Hoo is an indie rock trio from Montreal. Formed in 2005, they met online. Online relationships always work out.

Boo Hoo came together in the city of Montreal in 2005. Played their first show late in that year. Recorded some demos in the basement. Re-recorded some of those songs, and added more in the higher fidelity setting of the dining room. Released this debut disc in October 2006, on a label they created. Very Wrong. Played lots of shows, wrote more songs. Sold a song to Mega Bloks since Boo Hoo is so kid-friendly. Took the Mega Bloks mega bucks and made a record over the course of 2008 at The Pines in Montreal with David Bryant. Called the new record Don’t Die. Released this second disc in the Spring of 2009. Very Wrong, again.

There are 3 of them. Ben who sings and plays guitar or bass. Marc who plays the drums. And Rob who does the same as Ben. They play and record in Rob’s ramshackle mansion overlooking the train tracks.

The three members met partially in person, partially through the internets. They bonded over shared favourite bands. Mostly indie stuff. Then they started playing together in Rob’s basement. And Rob has Much More Retro on his television set. It’s on a lot, actually. And the incessant stream of video nostalgia has taught them many lessons: That it’s OK to be catchy. That energy means more than fidelity.
That 2 singers are better than one. That guitar solos may rule, but only if done right. That all conflicts …
