Broken Sleep is the dark, abstract dronescape project of Colin Hendry. As "Clone", he was a founding member of the now-defunct Mediacore collective, which organized low-brow experimental and hardcore electronic music events in Vancouver, Canada. His "glitchcomassault" is now more laptop than effect pedal based, but can still include lo-fi sounds such as those from (micro)cassette machine noise and field recordings, metallic folk instruments collected on his (not so) recent trip to the Himalayas, and walkie-talkies. He has done 3 small European tours (1 as Clone, 2 as Broken Sleep) and opened for artists such as Pan Sonic, Synapscape, Hospital, Crank Sturgeon, Coin Gutter, Dev79, and Dave Phillips. The name has sonic and symbolic meaning, and is a common experience for this (former) graveyard shift worker.
