Afternoons In Stereo is the sole musical expression of producer Greg Vickers, who resides in Canada in the city of Hamilton, Ontario. A musician since his early teens, his abilities on drums and percussion saw him participate in many bands and music projects over the years. It was in the last decade that Greg got interested in using the computer as a compositional tool – in many ways as an actual instrument – and began writing and recording music independently.
He began releasing music as Afternoons In Stereo with his self-released debut album Aural Pleasure in 2004. The follow-up, Leaves Of Brass, would win the 2006 Hamilton Music Award for Best Electronic Album. Winter of 2008 would see the release of The City Is Sleeping, which would win the HMA for Best Instrumental Album the following fall.
In late 2008 Afternoons In Stereo released his first ep with Timewarp Music, the El Puma EP -- a selection of three original tracks and a remix, reflecting the funkier and more breaks-oriented side of the artist. Spring 2009 saw the Kraak House EP released on the newly-minted Timewarp imprint, Kraak Records. This was a selection of four tracks loosely grouped around the 4/4 beat. In the early fall of 2009 came the five-track Habitat 67 EP, a selection of tracks from the first three independently released Afternoons In Stereo albums.

In 2009/2010 he has also contributed remixes for artists under the Timewarp/Kraak banner such as Zamali, Funky Destination, Teddy Presberg, Trotter, Timewarp Inc, and Tournoi.
May of 2010 saw the release of the new Afternoons In Stereo album, The Silence Between Phrases. This new record sees the Afternoons In Stereo sound evolve further into an organic, jazz-based sound. This will be preceeded by a single release in May for the track Promise, the four-track EP featuring the single plus three diverse remixes by noted producers Modulo 5, Acusmatic Group, and Solo Moderna.
In addition to being active as a musician, for the last 5 years Afternoons In Stereo has also been the host of the popular weekly radio program Urban Modernists which broadcasts live locally ON 93.3 CFMU FM as well as being rebroadcast online via Switzerland’s lounge-radio.com. The show maintains a loyal following of listeners that extends from his home base in Canada to the US, South America, Europe, and Japan.
Afternoons In Stereo is also active DJ’ing locally, spinning for various venues and radio programs, and maintains a popular ongoing bi-weekly Friday night live residency in his home town of Hamilton. Playing a variety of music from the past and present, his sets explore the threads that weave between jazz, funk, soul, afrobeat, breakbeat, and downtempo and bring with them a deep and educated understanding of the history of music and the relationships that extend between genres.
When not making music or spinning it for fans and neophytes alike, Greg is a full-time graphic designer and web developer under the banner of GVD. It should be noted that he does all of his own graphic design work, from packaging to marketing and promotion, each release or DJ gig carefully crafted to have a unique visual representation as distinct as it’s musical identity. He has also contributed to the evolving visual identity of Timewarp Music and Kraak Records, creating the Kraak Records logo and website as well as refinishing or designing record sleeves for Timewarp Inc, Trotter, and the Lego Boy compilation Down & Dirty.
