Comprised of five gentlemen from the Greater Toronto Area, Arcs is a passionate and sincere combination of its members’ diverse musical interests. Having grown up surrounded by the active aggressive independent music scene of their hometown’s suburban expanse, the band fuses their earlier, punk rock-inspired roots with a more mature sound, stealing from the first two Jimmy Eat World records while cribbing notes from Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska; arrogant comparisons aside, they basically write good and occasionally complicated pop music. Utilizing all the instruments they (or their friends) can get their hands on, their debut EP features harmonium, bells, piano, violin, “bushwhackers”, egg beaters, lap steel, harmonica and as many sing-alongs as time would allow.
The band is currently preparing to unload their music on the world, orchestrating as many shows as humanly possible in the coming months, bombarding campus radio stations with overly friendly e-mails, and finalizing a short two-week tour for the end of the summer. They are excited. They are driven. They are really nice. They hope you like them.
