The R3-30: Chart #182!

The R3-30: Chart #182!

Posted by Craig Norris on Mar 13, 2010

It's funny where conversations go, don't you think? Sometimes they begin on strange topics and end up being illuminating and beautiful. Then, other times, they start somewhere illuminating and beautiful and end up being disturbing and weird.

I'm going to get you to go on ahead and guess which one of those we have on The R3-30 this week? With our number 1 artist, no less.

But it's not all about bladder control and Pedro's hobbies. We'll hear what Alexandre from Radio Radio does in the bathtub, have an R3-30 FunClub Pick for USS from the U.S., find out what X3 Artist, Zeus, is listening to these days, and still play this week's most popular songs on CBCRadio3!

But yes, there are a few...er...odd conversations along the way. Plus, there seems to be growing animosity towards The JingleMatic 3000.

The R3-30 debuts every Friday on CBCRadio3.com and Sirius 86 at 11 am ET. The Podcast drops rignt after!

    "JingleDick"?

    You've just been flagged by the CBC's Decency Guild.

    well good morning/afternoon everyone.

    When is this show airing?  I'll get my tape recorder out and hold the mic to my computer speakers to record it.

    I'm fine with that.  I wrote an excellent review of the R3/BAP show last night to the feedback section of cbc.ca so I figured that I could sneak in an indecent comment off this morning.

    You're not sarcastic at all.

    You're a disgrace to the Republic of Ireland. They actually asked me if I knew a "Craig Norris" and said that he's not "welcome anymore" .... bye bye bye....

    (did you get that last part?)

    Ooo, and I'm seeing Plants and Animals tonight!!!!

    A "disgrace"?

    Wow. Hurtful much. I even worked for Guinness for a time.

    And yes, I got the last part. You're going to the Indie Awards?

  24. mikegibbons
    24

    @MoniSki

    Are you going to the show that The Acorn is playing at as well?  I would totally be going if I wasn't going to the Bonfire Ball tonight in London.

  25. MoniSki
    25

    @Craig

    You did eh? Well apparently they didn't like how you poured a pint. Wasn't very tasty. ek.

    I believe the Indie Awards are tomorrow aren't they?

    I'm seeing Plants tonight at Lee's for the Chromwaves and The Billions Corporation thing... also i didn't realize that CBC thing was tonight.... darn.

  26. Bio Spice
    26

    27

    @mikegibbons

    Yup!! that's the one!

    awww its to bad you're not going. I'm actually going all by myself! It's going to be my first show alone!

    But have fun at the Bonfire show... i didn't get to go yesterday... hopefully when they come to Hamilton I'll go.... enjoy it!

  28. Craig Norris
    28

    @MoSk

    The CBC night at the Elmo will be better than Lee's. Just a fact.

    I like that, MoSk... i have a friend that calls me MoSko... perhaps I should get a CBC Blog Name, Name change.

    Well thanks for making me feel so great about going to tonight's show. I hate facts.

    .... i don't want to know what you did with a Guinness...

  30. Craig Norris

    The internet will save us!

    If you believe the header at this Tourism Kelowna site, Kelowna's slogan appears to be "Ripe with surprises."

    However, the city's welcome sign apparently just has some tomatoes.

    So the jingle just needs to mention surprisingly ripe tomatoes, and it can't go wrong.

    Man, I'm starting to get jealous of Vancouver.

    Or is that envious?

    AGAIN, a succession of fine free shows. (I know, I know, the Paralympics)

    the LiveCity Yaletown site is now closed. The downtown has been closed the past week but reopens tonight. There was never a night I was not able to get into the live sites when I went. the lineups looked intimidating, but they moved very efficiently. I would say that if you show up 30-40 mins before start of the show you will be in on time. The opening ceremonies are tonight, so it may be a different story, but they start at 6 and I'm thinking most people will be watching from home...I'm going to head down there once I get back downtown

    Last Night...

    Was the brainchild of Bandeapart. We all got in on it pretty early, and what came out of it at the end was something for which we are all pretty damned proud, to be frank!

    It will be available on-demand on BAP soon. Not sure how soon, though. Everyone is still a little shell-shocked by the whole thing. And I get to re-live a little more Quebec joy tonight at the Elmo!

    Kelowna jingle

    I'm coming to this a day late so I don't assume you'll be reading this, Craig, but if you are I would like to suggest something to do with the Ogopogo for K-Town/Kelowna's jingle. He makes his home there and is the second most famous fictional lake monster in the world. Let Leonard Nimoy tell you all about him: "In Search Of... The Ogopogo Monster"
