The time has finally come to once again point our compasses north... way north... for one of the greatest music festivals on the face of the earth... the Dawson City Music Festival, in Dawson City, Yukon!
Once again, CBC Radio 3 is a proud sponsor of this small but mighty festival, and once again we will be taking over the gorgeous and historic Palace Grand Theatre for an excellent bill on Saturday July 18:
Chad VanGaalen (Calgary), The Acorn (Ottawa), Johnny and The Moon (Dante DeCaro of Wolf Parade/Hot Hot Heat, Victoria), and Ryan McNally* (Whitehorse). The concert will run from 7pm - 10pm and will not be broadcast live, though some performances will be taped for a future broadcast.
I'll be on hand to proudly MC both this event on Saturday night at the Palace Grand and the Dawson City Music Festival kick-off concert Friday afternoon from 4pm to 6pm at the Gazebo Stage on the bank of the Yukon River.
Also performing throughout the weekend under the midnight sun will be Mother Mother, Sunset Rubdown, Bend Sinister, Luke Doucet, Melissa McClelland, SoCalled, Eekwol, the Handsome Family, and many others. Check out the entire line-up here.
I'll also be filing daily blog reports from the festival.
So... will I be seeing YOU in Dawson City? Let me know!
*(The previously scheduled Coeur de Pirate has very unfortunately cancelled, citing exhaustion).
