Timber Timbre Signs Worldwide Deal With Arts & Crafts

Posted by Jennifer Van Evra on May 11, 2009
Arts and Crafts has just signed Toronto's Taylor Kirk - aka Timber Timbre - to a worldwide recording, management and publishing deal.

The high-profile label will start by reissuing Kirk's self-titled full-length album on June 30 in Canada, and internationally on July 28. (It's currently available digitally at the GalleryAC.)

Bry Webb from the Cons turned me onto the Timber Timbre record and I immediately fell in love with it,” says Arts & Crafts President, Jeffrey Remedios.

"I went to acquaint Kevin Drew and he simultaneously tried to tell me. We both knew we had to try and tell the world about Timber Timbre and we're honoured he's giving us a chance to do just that."

Timber Timbre's debut was originally released on the tiny grassroots label Out Of This Spark, which will now partner with Arts and Crafts to help get its records to a wider audience.

"Out Of This Spark has been doing great things for the Toronto music community," says Remedios, "and we're excited to be working more closely with them."

Known for his haunting, dusty, old-time blues sound, Timber Timbre recorded the self-titled album at his home studio, and put the finishing touches on the record at the Lincoln County Social Club with producer Chris Stringer (Ohbijou, the Coast, Rush).

You can download the track "Lay Down In The Tall Grass" from his self-titled album here (if you're willing to sign away your email address). You can also check out the video for the song "We’ll Find Out" here.

This is the best news ever. I'm so happy for Taylor. It's been nearly 4 years since I first saw Timber Timbre play at the Spill in Peterborough, and I've been following him every step of the way. I've always found him to be extremely focused and it's no surprise that he's landed himself a deal with one of Canada's biggest labels. I really can't wait to all the new fans to hear him and experience his powerful live show. Maks sure you catch him on this upcoming tour, it's his first across Canada, and I can only say I'm sure he'll be on to even bigger things next.
