Winter Songs Podcast #230

Posted by Grant Lawrence on Dec 24, 2009

Welcome to winter, ladies and gentlemen!! Yes, for many Canadians it feels like we've been enduring our longest, darkest and coldest season since around October, but the Canadian winter officially began on Monday December 21.

And would you believe that we receive emails all the time from wayward Canadians in much warmer southern climates that actually MISS this time of year? Laura Sikstrom, who is working in Malawi, Africa, even went so far as to suggest we put together a Winter Songs Podcast for those missing the -40.

We took a look and realized that Canadian artists have toboggan-load of winter songs that could fill five or six podcasts... but we chose ten really great wintery songs from Sam Roberts, Julie Doiron, Maybe Smith, Matt Mays, and others that were driven like the driving snow to create art about the Canadian test of endurance that is our winter.

Bundle up, and enjoy. Happy holidays, everyone!
