Well, because it's Our Noise: The Story of Merge Records by John Cook, Laura Ballance, and Mac McCaughan and, on today's show, Laura and Mac are joining me on the phone to tell us all about the book!

    Thanks for the book, Vish

    I don't know much about this side of the industry, and am looking forward to learning about it.

    @kankakee

    Last week you spoke about reading one of Jon Krakauer's books.  I picked up his latest, Where Men Win Glory: the odyssey of Pat Tillman.

    It is about this famous and talented football player who walks away from his career to fight the War On Terror after 9-11, but sadly gets killed by friendly fire.  The bulk of the book is about how the US government lied to cover this up, and used his death as a tool to further advance public support for this war.

    I like reading about American politics, but even if you don't, Jon Krakauer's writing is so engaging and accessible, I do believe you might enjoy it.

    I am VERY eager!

    Just waiting for my copy to come in.

    And I can't believe I actually finished last month's book on time. On Friday night with a day to spare to boot.

    Yes, I tell all my friends about the book club.

    Merge back in the day was one of my favorite all-time labels. Merge, Dischord, Epitaph/Fat, SubPop, Murder, Mint and Sonic Unyun were guaranteed money in the bank for me in the 90's.

    I'd love to read a similar book about Sonic Unyun or Murderrecords. Wasn't there one for Mint?

    Good morning Vish! Normally I would say books are just a government tool to force me to learn things, but alas I have enjoyed reading this book. I have to admit I wasn't at all familiar with Merge but that is changing page by page. My only problem is I work early Friday mornings thus why I generally don't participate in this book club, but i'll do what I can this month.

    @Vishal

    Maybe it's in the works? I thought I saw that somewhere.

    But I could have misremembered?

    There should be one, though.
