Take Our Kids to Work Day - Okay... I will!

Posted by Lisa Christiansen on Nov 11, 2009

[Today's show originally aired on November 4th]

Each year Canadian Grade 9 students enjoy a day off of school for Take Our Kids To Work Day. And this year my own son Noah Sawchuk is joining us here at CBC Radio 3.

So far he’s talked about his morning routine on Tariq’s Basement Studio and reviewed a kid’s music book for Grant Lawrence Live. And now it’s off to write the rest of this blog post and co-host my show. Ha, he thought he was getting the day off!

Thanks mom.

So far, I’ve learned that my mom’s job is a lot trickier than I had thought.

The way she made it sound was that all she did was sit around, listen to music, go out for lunch, maybe chit-chat on the radio for a bit, nothing too big.

But now, I can tell it’s a lot more than that.

One, you have to think A LOT.

Two, being live on the air can be pretty pressuring for someone that’s never been on the radio.

And three, it's much more than just sitting around listening to music.

But at least I enjoyed my own cubicle and the coffee break and making fun of the bossman (just kidding).

Here's hoping that all the Sec 3 (grade 9 in quebec) students at our school had to work as hard as you Noah!  They will be back in my class tomorrow and I am hoping they appreciate school more??? hoping???

Does your Mom always recline on the couch when she thinks?

I once told your Mom I thought she thought pretty hard, but she said nah, she'd never been accused of that before.  I agree with you, not her.

When I took my son to work with me, I wanted to show him what went on in our office, but all he was interested in were the fork lifts in the shipping yard.  He finally learned how to drive one when he was 19.

Glad you had a good day at R3.  All of us out here sure appreciate what they do for us.

You got lucky that you got to experience such a cool job to visit. When I was in school  they only did take your daughter to work day.... Bastards. Too long our Y chromosomes brothers have been oppressed... Nice to see that men are finally getting a chance to have our voices heard. No longer will we be subserviant baby seed producers for you tyranical women.

    @Lisa

Heard Noah with Tariq today.  I was thinking "this kid's 14?"

This should be called  Make Your Mom Beam Like The Sun Day.

    Lisa,

Your voices are very quiet compared to the music. Is it time for a level check? (I'm using Winamp to listen to Radio3.)
