For over two years now the staff of CBC Vancouver have lived through a massive renovation to our downdown broadcast centre with years of dust, jack hammering, fire alarm testing, strange smells and walls suddenly appearing where there were no walls before. But all that's finished now. The 70s-era nuclear bomb-proof bunker has been upgraded for the 21st Century, and we'd like you to drop by the CBC Open House and Food Bank Day for a visit to check out CBC operations, say "hi" and watch some of the great performances we have lined up throughout the day!
CBC Radio 3 will be broadcasting live from Studio One throughout the day with FREE in-studio performances by Said The Whale (12pm), Hannah Georgas (3pm), and Carolyn Mark (6pm), plus a special performance from You Say Party! We Say Die! in Studio 40 @ 5pm. Chill out in our Audience Lounge, chat with R3 staff, watch R3TV & Picture Shows, visit the R3TV confession booth, and take your picture with Santa's favourite wayward elf, Scotty!
We've combined the event with CBC's annual Food Bank Fundraiser to help raise money for B.C. food banks, so volunteers will be on hand to accept donations. (And please... don't unload your unwanted cans of anchovies on the foodbank. Nothing says "I want to help more than good ol' fashion money.)
Doors open at 9am on Friday, December 4th until 9pm. Be there, or be square - unless you don't live in the GVA - then you're not square, but don't let that stop you from helping out your local food bank!
