A Perception of Doors - Picture Show 03

Posted by John Paolozzi on Nov 04, 2009

Ah, the humble door. A simple device that keeps civilization itself chugging along. When used properly, it keeps our stuff safe from ne'er-do-wells, allows us privacy in the bathroom, serves to add drama to practically any situation with a nice solid slam, and of course is heavily weighted with loads of symbolic... er... "symbolry" as the dumb guy who used to sit behind me in English Lit 101 used to say.

With this in mind, please enjoy this week's Picture Show, A Perception of Doors, a selection of doors uploaded to our Flickr group. It's set to a track by Calgary's extra happy ghost called "mash-up: neither being nor nothingness".

[Next week's theme is "Sign Language", an exploration of communication through the use of displayed words and or symbols. If you'd like us to use your photos, please join our Flickr group. The ideal size is at least 1280 X 720]

    John,

If I have a photo that I want to submit, how should I tag it, or is uploading it into the group sufficient?

Please joing our Flickr group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/cbcradio3/) and tag it "Sign Language". Also, the ideal size is at least 1280 X 720. Thanks! Wish we could offer more options other than Flickr, but with so few hands, we need to keep everything in one place.

    Love this show

And here I was going to suggest you let us know the themes in advance so we could submit in that realm. How long have you been doing this that I haven't noticed/read?

Do I need to tag ones I already have up in the pool that apply?

Because of how I ended up cutting this together, it wasn't practical to attach the photographer's name to each photo during the piece. Watch this space for a full list of contributors. And thank you for the photos!

Whoa.  I didn't realize one of my photos had been used.  That does explain a comment though.  Thanks.!

At what point in the week do you want our submissions for the next... compilation, for lack of a better word?
