Ross MacLachlan “Obama Vitality Rag” - TOD for October 15, 2009

Posted by Lana Gay on Oct 15, 2009

I've really become interested in jazz music lately.  I don't know why I stepped away from it for a while, but now I'm ready to school myself in Canadian Independent Jazz.  While looking through the various jazz categories in NMC, I stumbled on our lone Ragtime musician, Ross MacLachlan

His latest upload is a track called Obama Vitality Rag, which he wrote "in anticipation of the vitality and energy that President Barack Obama will bring to the United States of America".  He's no stranger to political figures, once performing for Princess Diana on her visit to Kingston in 1991.

I hope this mixes up your playlist a bit, and if you are a jazz aficionado, feel free to post your recommendations!  (And don't forget about the R330 Salute to jazz podcast!)
