I'm really into this band right now. Are they a band if their instruments are two turntables, a computer, and a microphone? Either way, this group OK Cobra, originally from London, Ontario, has just released a lyrically deep and melodically spellbinding new album. It's called Delerium Tremens. When I spoke to Fritz the Cat aka Ryan Somers and RecordFace, aka Tim Horler, about it I found out that my favourite song, I Quit (I Give Up) was actually the corkage of writer's block for Ryan. It was a team effort of a song. Tim looped and layered one of Ryan's all-time favourite songs by one of his all-time favourite artists. Ryan started simply with the line:
Could it be possible I'm all dried up? It's all gone?
My worst fears confirmed I'm outta words, there're no songs?
Then it all just flowed like a verbal fountain. These guys are heading out on tour out east and then doubling back through western Canada as Ryan makes a move to the shores of Vancouver. As a guy who's recently got into yoga and eats uber-healthy on the road, I think he'll fit in just fine with the west coast lifestyle. This is OK Cobra's I Quit (I Give Up).
