Spinal Tap Heroes To Kick Off "Unwigged" Tour In Vancouver

Posted by Jennifer Van Evra on Mar 03, 2009
A quarter century after heavy metal fans first witnessed amps that go to 11 and heard about the spontaneous combustion of drummers, mockumentary heroes Spinal Tap are reuniting for a North American tour - and it kicks off in Vancouver.

Famed filmmaker and actor Christopher Guest, actor Michael McKean and TV/radio legend Harry Shearer - also stars of A Mighty Wind - are embarking on the 30-date tour starting April 17 at the Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts.

Dubbed Unwigged & Unplugged: An Evening with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer, the tour will see the trio perform without their trademark costumes.

"We've never gone out as ourselves," Shearer said Monday during webcast press conference on Tuesday. "It's interesting - after playing characters all these years, we're having meetings trying to figure out who WE are. We have to ask ourselves, 'What would WE do?'"

The set list will comprise songs from the two Spinal Tap albums - "Hell Hole", anyone? - as well as tunes from A Mighty Wind.

The only other Canadian stop is at Toronto's Massey Hall on May 21. Full list of dates after the jump!
