iTunes may have become the largest music retailer in the world - but now it's getting in on the indie action.
The Apple-owned digital music service recently announced that it's adding an
"Indie Spotlight" section to its website, which will exclusively feature independent acts, such as
Malajube,
A.C. Newman,
Great Lake Swimmers,
Jenn Grant,
Cadence Weapon,
Woodpigeon,
Neko Case,
Bon Iver,
Vetiver,
Cut Copy and
Animal Collective.
The page is currently its "soft launch" phase, but includes an
"Indie Spotlight Playlist" with information about the artists and their music, as well as
"Featured Albums." The U.S. version also includes links to podcasts and videos.
