For The Record: The Constantines' Kensington Heights

Posted by Jennifer Van Evra on May 06, 2008
Your name:
Steve Lambke from the Constantines

Name Of Your New Album:
Kensington Heights

Story Behind The Name:
It's named in tribute to the neighbourhood of Kensington market in Toronto where we write, rehearse, and hang out.

What You Wanted To Do:
We wanted to make an exciting rock and roll record. I think there's more positivity on this one than the last couple, and some heavy jams.

A Favourite Moment:
[Toronto Maple Leafs centre] Boyd Devereaux came in and played my organ part on the opening of "Time Can Be Overcome". I had the night off.

We're on tour now and it's exciting to be playing some of the new songs: "Trans Canada", "Time Can Be Overcome", "Do What You Can Do", "Hard Feelings". Will and I trade up for a couple of songs, too – he's playing guitar and I’m playing some keys. That's pretty fun.

What The Songs Are About:
The songs are about place, love, time, age, camping, motorcycles, late night television, positivity, and feelings.

How It Feels To Put The Album Out Into The World:
It feels good. I hope it feels good for the world, too.

What You’re Doing To Celebrate:
We're on tour. We had some drinks. We threw a party.
