They've got nothing on CBC Radio 3's own
90 Second Egg.
But the BBC just posted
a timed five-minute interview with Rufus Wainwright, and in it, they cover a whole lot of ground, including whether or not Wainwright feels pressure coming from a dynasty of musicians (no), what he would have been if not a musician (a visual artist), the best people he's worked with (
Burt Bacharach) and who he'd like to work with in future (
Bjork).
He also gives his opinion on gay marriage (should be legal but he doesn't want to get hitched), about the crush
Elton John might have had on
his dad, about the election of
Obama (Rufus calls it "one of those titanic moments"), and about his new opera
Prima Donna.
But the best line goes to the interviewer who, at the end of the interview, says,
"You speak French because you're Canadian, right?"
