Whetting Your Appetite with Sylvie Wisdom

Coming Up: Sylvie

It's been a good week for me hosting Appetite for Distraction. Mostly because I haven't had to be in this toasty studio talking to myself (I know someone's listening, but they aren't readily in my line of vision). Yesterday Jenn Grant joined me and today it's Joel Passmore and Chris Notenboom of Sylvie. The Regina, Saskatchewan band has a new release called Trees and Shade Are Our Only Fences, a follow-up to 2005's brilliant An Electric Trace.

This time out there's one more to the band, Joel's sister Erin and a release produced by a musical hero of the band: J. Robbins, the incredibly prolific artist from Baltimore, Maryland.

We talk about all of that today on the show; Joel and Chris join me for the first hour. And as well as their musical stories, there's also some wisdom that comes from being in an indie band for so long. This being the day to share the week's wisdom, I'll let the trench fighters have their say.
