Waking Up on Voting Day with a Library Voice & a Hilotron!

Posted by Amanda Putz on Nov 28, 2008
I knew these Bucky-Does-Xmas antlers would come in handy one day. I got them from Rich Terfry when he bucked his music moniker and became all respectable-like. I selected today to donner them because we're on the brink of Seasonal Madness Month and I have another public service message for you.

Spay and neuter your pets! Wait. That's next week.

Vote for your favourite Future Classic! It's the last day and you have but 9.5 hours to point and click your way to a Bucky for your cousin's band.

In the last half of the show this morning I'll have three Bucky boosters for you: Library Voices' Michael Dawson, NQ Arbuckle's Neville Quinlan, and Hilotrons' Damian Sawka.

Even the Buckys can't pre-empt High Five Friday! You don't have to be sent into your weekend without hearing those off-key jingles, fear not. I'll have a country set, a set to chill to, and one to rock your socks off.

Just for you Wildworks!

A Set To Chill You:
Angela Desveaux - Sure Enough
The Acorn - Burrows
Kyrie Kristmanson - Song X
Bend Sinister - The Same Things
Mother Mother - Body of Years

A Set to ROCK To:

Sam Roberts - Fixed to Ruin
Born Ruffians - Piecing It Together
Ten Kens - Refined
D.O.A. - Golden State
F*cked Up - Royal Swan

A Set to Two-Step To:
NQ Arbuckle - Huntsville Affair
Elliott Brood - Miss You Now
The British Columbians - Bye Bye Marie

Oh Susanna - Johnstown
The Sadies - Pretty Polly

Is it just me or did the Bucky voting time go by awful fast this year? It's like Christmas, all that's left now is to open presents, then we have to wait another year for the fun to start again.

    Yea, must of. :)

Man, I couldn't think what to say. Good thing Martin was first to post. :)
You're right, the voting time has gone by fast.
You will list the High 5 Friday later on?

    Mornin' Kids,

I didn't get to post a thank you yesterday (stupid work taking up my time) but thanks to zandron for the punk ottawa website suggestion. I'll pick something from there and see where I end up on the 5th.

    In Halifax tonight:
25 years of annoying radio dj's on Q104 brigns you, Matt Mays, 5440,April wine and Sam Roberts @ the cunard centre
    or
You can go to Gingers & check out the ukeladies & Ryan MacGrath

    Tomorrow
Neil Young & Wilco @ the metro centre
followed by an afterparty like no other at the SeaHorse with The Stanfields (home from a tour of upper canada) and Gloryhound & the skyhawks.

    check it out...
    I'm just sayin' that's all.

    Putz-O=Matic?

Guessing, because there is no question, that this is one of those recyclable shows?

Anyway - Love Song X (Thanks for keeping it on the list).

Just cast my last vote in the Buckys, it did seem to go really fast this year.

Also, because people here are ideal for this concept. I've just launched another FB group (like 5 minutes ago):

    Street Team Canada

The idea is pretty basic: Get a whole lot of people who are willing to donate a few minutes of their time and make touring a little easier for musicians. When bands tour I'll send out tour dates to the group. If a band is playing your city, print and put up a poster or two or three and help people find out about the show. So if you're in Canada, or if you're in another country and want to help promote Canadian bands sign up!

Sounds like a pretty cool idea Justin.

myfidelity, I saw Sam Roberts Band (and In Flight Safety) here in Charlottetown last night, they rocked. (http://flickr.com/photos/suckamc/3065737624/)

I'm so glad that Leopard Of Honor (spelled wrong?) is the next Destroyer single, it's my favorite song on the album!

    Vote for Shad!

I saw Shad live in Ottawa a little while ago and I was quite impressed, very talented guy, a rapper who also plays instruments. Check out his video and vote for him! This goes to show you that hiphop isn't all about the cash.

On a side note, I think I might have a crush on Ms. Putz. Amanda, will you go out with me? I will take you to a fancy restaurant.

"Oh my god, there's like a dozen things wrong with this..." That should have been up for best lyric... although it might just be me.

    I'm blushin'...

I declare I really love restaurants, fancy or not (well, ones starting with "Mc" not so much) but would you be offended if I brought my husband?

Justin B, we missed you on the blog this week!
Great idea about the touring thing. It would mean I actually have to log onto facebook more than once every 90 days but for the music, I'll try.

Ottawa: come out to Library Voices tonight at Zaphod's!

    re: I'm blushin'....

I wouldn’t be offended, only, I’d be concerned that it would be slightly uncomfortable for him, as I confess my true feelings, over some well-marinated Cornish game hens. It might kill the magic.

Like a finely-crafted dessert platter, something we all need more of is Old Man Luedecke, especially “Proof of Love.” That song reminds me of summer, which in turn reminds me of folk festivals.

    Here’s lookin’ at you kid.

    It's true MSteve

I think that song has tight lyrics from start to finish. That other line, right before "the patron saints all patronize me" is "You're a pinprick on a paper continent."
    Brilliant.
    See you tonight!

yay yay yay its Jellybean day!!!!!
I am wiggling in my seat with anticipation for Justin Rutledge tonite.
But, I am running out of time to think of a concert craft....does anyone have any good ideas?
I feel it might be hard to top the beard t-shirt i made for Herman Dune....

    @ Texas & Declare

OML coming at you on Monday, fer sure. Maybe in light of all the food talk I'll go with Joy of Cooking.

Texas, what are you talking about? Did Rutledge call for a concert craft or is this something of your own doing?
  14. texas
    14

    concert crafts!!

hehe. of course it is entirely my own doing.
its what passes as light entertainment in my life.....starts to tell you something about my little existence doesnt it!!!

so here is what it boils down to....before a show we grab some "idea juice", pizza and create something hopefully ironic/irreverant/artist relevant to take along to the show....

in the case of Herman Dune we did an homage to his facial sasquatch (pics are posted on the facebook :)
for this show I am thinking potentially jellybean jewellery...but i am not sold on the idea yet.

    nerd alert.

    Brilliant. Again.

    I love it!
How can someone as cute as you be single? Declare can you take this hot little blonde on a date to a fancy restaurant please?

I think jellybean earrings, one blue, one green, would be perfect. It's that or a Boston Cream brooch and I'm not sure that would last 'til the encore.

    Who Helped Again? :)

Amanda, I want to know who helped out on Emergency Street? I heard Jim Bryson and Sarah Hallman's name. Who was the second lady and others who helped out

    concert romance

who knows, maybe candy jewellery is just the ticket to sweep some sweet young thang off his feet?
at the very least it gives them a good reason to nuzzle my neck.......

    delicious.

    @ Texas & The Putz

Who needs a restaurant, when the food is to go....on you! Amanda perhaps you should rename your show - Waking Up and Hooking Up! with the Putz.

I must say, Jelly Beans are delicious.
