I went to see the D'Urbervilles play a show here in Vancouver a few days before we recorded this CBC Radio 3 Session and I remember being taken by how much fun these guys seemed to be having on stage. They were so into playing the show that they didn't even seem to care that there was no sound guy for the gig. They'd tweak the knobs and faders themselves in between songs and ask the audience how things were sounding.

It was with this same energetic spirit that they performed six songs for this recording (yes, there was a sound engineer on hand) and they even came in prepared to play a unique "one time only" version of one of their songs called "The Receiver". I won't tell you what they did with it exactly - you'll have to listen to the Session for that. I can tell you that this version involved pistachios. I know; it sounds nuts, but it's true.
