I've had the song "Hard Times" in my head for days now. This is partly due to the fact that I was putting together a vacation home video the other night with a sweet Radio 3 soundtrack that included this song, and also due to the fact that "Hard Times" is pure candy for the ear.
In addition to the "sugary pop" songs like this one, The Mohawk Lodge are not shy to turn up the rock with a full on heavy guitar assault, all the while keeping it melodic, with echoes of their earlier more rustic material.
You might say that the campfire has turned into a wildfire these days and I'm pleased to report that singer Ryder Havdale brought the flame to Studio 2 in the form of a full band equipped with 3 guitars, drums, bass, percussion and even trumpet.
This CBC Radio 3 Session was recorded in Vancouver in March of 2008.
