You plan and plan and plan.
Then worry.
Then re-plan.
Then lay out a draft rundown.
Then drink a little. Not a lot. Just enough to numb the pain.
Then you apologize to some people for calling them really late at night even though you don't remember doing it. And by the way, I wasn't crying. My nose was just stuffed up. OK?
Then it's back to work on the show, agonizing over every detail.
Then it slips your mind for a couple of weeks.
Then you realize that it's tonight and you have to blog about it.
Then you lube The Wheel of Freedom and put on your long underwear.
Then you head down to the rink.
That, my friends, is the Coles notes version of the process behind the first R3-30 FunClub Event of 2008!
Tonight, this evening, or this afternoon - depending on where you are - from 6 pm to 9 pm ET, The R3-30 will be coming to you LIVE from The Natrel Rink at Toronto's Harbourfront! You can listen to the simulcast across North America on SIRIUS 94 and around the world right here, on web radio!
And what a radio show we have for you tonight! Three shiny new songs will make their debut, Frank from chromewaves.net will join us in person to lay a Tastemaker pick on us and The Wheel of Freedom will be tested FOUR TIMES by some of you who are braving the cold to pitch your own Song To Skate By!
Plus, there will be some special guests dropping by to lace 'em up with us. Members of Major Maker, The Cansecos and Sunparlour Players will be stopping by for some hot chocolate and skating etiquette tips. But, perhpas most exciting is...one of The R3-30's Vancouver producers (and our boss) Andrea "Tonya Harding" Gin will be carving the ice, resplendant in her very own figure skates (she's very wealthy).
So that's it folks! I should tell you (even though you should listen tonight) that the show will repeat for the rest of the weekend and Monday in The R3-30's regular time slot. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you're listening to this on Sunday or Monday, you can still head down to the rink if you want. We just won't be there anymore. Well, Andrea might still be there. Skating is in her blood.
