Announcing Audience Tuesdays!

Posted by Chris Kelly on Jan 08, 2008
Hey Listeners!

How would you like your own podcast? I'm totally serious. You were good in 2007. All of you are really starting to grow on us here at Radio 3. We think you're cool, smart, funny, have good taste in music and good looking, so we're going to give you your very own podcast.

Starting on Feb 5th, Tuesday will no longer be known as Tuesday but AUDIENCE TUESDAY, because that's when your podcast comes out! On that day our daily Track of the Day podcast will be turned over to you, the audience.

If you haven't heard the podcast it goes something like this: one of our hosts picks a tune from New Music Canada, and tells you why you must hear the song. Sometimes it's a new release by their favorite band, or an overlooked b-side, or maybe the first song played after getting their braces off. Either way, it a short, personal, passionate story that pulls the listener's ear into the song. Now that job can be yours!

All you have to do is call into our toll free line (1-877-955-6565 ext.2) say that your calling about Audience Tuesday, leave us your name, where you're calling from, and your throw to the song (approx. 1 min). Most passionate entry gets the job and the adoration of hundreds of thousands... well tens of thousands anyway. Good luck future hosts!

First three songs I am pitching are:
    1) Honeymoon Suite - "Got a new girl now"
    2) Chilliwack -"Whatcha Gonna Do (When I'm Gone)?"
    3) Brighton Rock - "Can't Wait for the Night"

    They count, right?

    Remember...

Hey all, we've been getting some great calls already but just remember we're dealing with our current NMC catalog and not Billboard greatest hits of 1974.

We'll also need them name of the song and why need it played. Convince me!

    Nice!

Great idea guys, but lets no discount 1974 (http://www.hotpopsongs.com/Music/Billboard/1974.html)

Oh this will be fun getting to help promote some local bands that people are not totally aware of yet. Those folks at CBC Radio 3 are always on top of things.

OK how about this for a track of the day:

The Tom Fun Orchestra - Watchmaker

This is a great group out of Cape Breton which has one of the best live shows I have ever seen. This song captures some of that energy. They will be playing again soon in my town and I definitely will be there.

    Audience Tusdays

How about "Rangeland Rider" by Gene Strandquist.
This single is about to go out nationwide to a shwack of radio stations.

We're cold as hell out here in Alberta and we need a reason to get up and dance to a good country tune.

brrrrr! keep your brass monkeys inside!
