Tonight's the night for CBC Radio 3's show at the Halifax Pop Explosion, live at the Marquee and streaming on this very website starting at 9 p.m. EST. (It's also airing on Sirius channel 94.) And all week, we've been hearing the Top 5 Things To Do In Halifax from favourite east coast artists, including Jill Barber, Matt Mays, Wintersleep and Julie Doiron.
So what does a perfect day look like for beloved east coast rocker Joel Plaskett?
Here's what he had to say:
5. First stop - Fisher's Stationary on Portland Street in Dartmouth to buy pen and paper. It's an awesome store.
4. Then I'd browse John Daly Antiques in the Hyrostone Market on Young St to see if they have any weird musical instruments.
3. After that, it's off to Tarek's over on Robie Street to have a bite to eat and maybe write something with the pen and paper I just bought.
2. Then I'd head across to Halifax to go to The Last Word bookstore on Windsor Street to talk with the owner Wayne about crime novels.
1. Finally, I'd head over to Charle's Austin's Echo Chamber Recording Studio on Kempt Road to cut a hit record.
Joel is playing at St. Matthew's United Church at 9 p.m. Atlantic (David Myles and Forest City Lovers are on before him), so if you're in Halifax and you're quick on your feet, you could even check out his show before the Radio 3 concert that starts at 10!
So... what are your favourite Halifax haunts?
