Amongst the deconstruction of the Radio 3 studio in Toronto, Jijou was complaining about all the sawdust. Apparently he was feeling a bit asthmatic. He's been sent away for a week-long training course up on the fourth floor - The Basics of Computer Use.
So here I am! I've got one final week as an intern with CBC Radio, and I'm spending it with R3. It's nice to be back.
A couple weeks ago, Pedro forwarded an e-mail to me from a photographer named Wade Vroom. He had an exhibit opening in Toronto. At first I couldn't figure out why we would care, unless he wanted to submit an Image of the Day.
It turns out that Wade's project brought Canadian music culture into Mexico in kind of a fun and random way.
"When we were in Mexico, I had in my backpack some of my favourite CDs, so I walked up to random Mexican citizens, and I don't speak any Spanish but I did know how to say, ‘Una foto por favor?' I handed them the CD cover from one of my CDs, and I just took their picture." - Wade Vroom
While some of the Mexicans in the photos look confused or possibly nonchalant, my favourite photos are of the people who actually posed with the random and unknown CD covers!
The album covers featured include those from artists such as Immaculate Machine, The Old Soul, and The Joel Plaskett Emergency.
The exhibit Curry vs. Mole is on now until the end of August at the Linux Caffe on Harbord Street in Toronto. Prints are being sold to benefit Frontier College.
