It was fun to be in hot sticky Toronto a few weeks ago for the annual NXNE Music festival. It's funny how so many people, who don't live in Toronto, don't like Toronto. I find that a bit mysterious. I'm sure they have their reasons, but I think it's a really cool city. Not only does it have a great music community, it's also very multicultural, and I love that.
While I was there, I did a lot of late night walking around in order to see shows. One night, I was on my way to catch Jenn Grant at C'est What. It was interesting to be walking around a new city after midnight and I felt pretty safe there. Apparently, I wasn't the only one - that night I saw a big fat raccoon wandering around right downtown! It was the craziest thing! There he was, just cruising around without a care in the world. I watched him for a while...until he headed off to check in at the local saloon.
Eventually, I made it to the show and settled into a great set by this Halifax artist. She closed the night off with this song, one of the sweetest tracks on her latest album, and it's been in my head ever since.
It's called Dreamer...and it has nothing to do with raccoons whatsoever.
